About Annette
Annette is originally from Chicago and has studied the camera and art in college in design for a short time, and then became intrigued by the camera and what it could do to represent natural beauty in her roles to promote conservation in the mid-west.
She was able to move to Ireland after meeting her husband, Jim where she studied at the Dublin School of Photography and began to sell her work, with her first large canvas sold there of Joe the Fisherman. She makes images to sooth, or bring back a memory of a special moment in time. Her focus has been on many levels, but keeps coming back to the coast and bringing forth the beauty that surrounds there, with the hopes of intriguing the viewer to enjoy and appreciate the natural beauty.
Upon returning to the US, she owned a gallery in Kennebunkport, Maine for several years where she customized work to suit the traveler and coastal home owner. Her work evokes glimpses from happy times spent along the shore as well as other locations. Of special interest is in creating photos that are more abstract or painterly.
Annette spent several years on the board of the York Art Association and a short stint as their Executive Director where she fostered community based programs to bring artists and admirers together of all ages. In addition, she worked with Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire to create a Caring Hands Giving Program using the hands of many doctors, nurses and patients. These are still on view in the hospital.
In addition, she is the consulting photographer for PS IT MATTERS in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and does all of their product photography and artwork for there offices. She has worked with a designer in Rye, New Hampshire to create all of the artwork in one home with the theme of local birds and marshes.
Currently, she is the Curator at 100 Market Gallery, 100 Market Street, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. There she hosts 3 shows annually representing her work and that of others.
The gallery is commission-free devoted to expanding the public’s awareness of the high caliber ofart that thrives in New England.
